1. The Underpants: Written by Carl Sternheim, this play was adapted by Martin in 2002. It details the main character’s struggle to keep his wife’s panties on. We’re hoping it’s not autobiographical.

2. Shopgirl: In 2000, Martin wrote this novella about a love triangle involving a Neiman Marcus salesclerk, an older businessman and a young graphic designer. Who needs eHarmony when you have the glove counter at Neiman’s?

3. The Crow – New Songs: Martin’s first bluegrass album, The Crow – New Songs for the 5-String Banjo, was released in 2009. In 2001, he won a Grammy for Best Country Instrumental

Performance. Yeehaw.

4. Playboy: We’re thinking 1991 playmate of the year Lisa Matthews gave Steve some titillating tips on how to pose like a centerfold. That year, he was the first man to grace the cover of Playboy.

5. The New Yorker: Martin has had more than 50 short stories and essays printed in various publications such as The New Yorker. Do we smell a serious side?
