Like heartbeats for chocolate

Anyone who knows me would tell you that my one true love is food. I am obsessed. My apartment is littered with old copies of Cooks Illustrated and Food & Wine, and my pantry is always stocked with the latest gadgets and cooking essentials. At any given moment, I’ve been known to whip up a delicious meal or a gluttonous snack while the Food Network hums soothingly in the background.

When I visit new cities, it’s a given that I’ve already looked up the best restaurants in the area. And when I have friends over, they tend to leave a few pounds heavier. I need to feed people. I’m told it’s genetic.

For Patric Chocolate creator Alan McClure a love of food spiraled into a full-fledged business, which he openly adores. McClure’s passion for creating the best possible product has proved a success. Made right here in Columbia and using only the finest ingredients, his delectable chocolate is a direct result of the care and attention he has for the process.

For many others, however, love isn’t as tangible. Our photo essay explores the not-so-obvious forms of the feeling and reaffirms that just because we can’t see it, smell it or touch it doesn’t mean it’s not out there.

So, this Valentine’s Day, you don’t need a person to celebrate with, just something you love. Molten chocolate cake, perhaps?
