Don’t be surprised if you’re walking down Broadway this Friday and you see maroon blurs whiz past amid chants of “One world, one voice, free Tibet.”
A Critical Mass bike ride will be held downtown. Although the Critical Mass movement was designed to celebrate cycling and promote cyclists’ road rights, this particular event was organized to raise awareness of Students for a Free Tibet. SFT is an international organization with more than 650 chapters whose shared goal is to end China’s occupation of Tibet through a series of economic, political and human rights campaigns. The bike ride is to revive a local chapter.
Students and the public are welcome to join the two-hour ride to show support for Tibet. Participants should bring a bike and wear maroon, the color of Tibetan monks’ robes. After, a casual informational session will be held at Uprise Bakery.
